Byly vybrány tři skupiny sémantických vztahů (aditivní, adverzativní a kauzální), reprezentované třemi typy formálních realizací: spojkou, příslovcem a předložkovou frází. eng Strategies of Logical Connection in Czech EFL Learners’ Spoken Discourse The chapter presents the analysis focused on the use of a selected inventory of devices serving to build cohesive spoken communication as the use of appropriate logical connectors is a very important skill that EFL learners should acquire to communicate effectively. It explores the Corpus of Czech Students’ Spoken English (Ježková 2015), comprising about 150,000 words, with the aim of finding out how proficient the students are in using such cohesive devices. Three groups of semantic relations were selected (additive, adversative, and causal), represented by three types of formal realisations: conjunction, adverb, and prepositional phrase. The concordance results are examined in an attempt to interpret how the use of individual logical connectors can help listeners comprehend accurately and make sense of discourse. spoken discourse; learner language; corpus linguistics; cohesive text; logical structure; communication strategies; syntactic connectors
