American Indian Workshop (AIW) - Sport, tělo a pohyb	Ve dnech 16. – 19. dubna 2024 se v Pardubicích konal 45. ročník nejvýznamnější mezinárodní konference věnované původním obyvatelům Severní Ameriky v Evropě- American Indian Workshop (AIW). Hostitelem konference byla Katedra sociální a kulturní antropologie Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Pardubice. Tento ročník se poprvé v historii AIW zabýval tématem sportu. Součástí akademické konference byla celá řada dalších aktivit a kulturních akcí. Konference byla zahájená velvyslankyní Kanady v ČR, J.E. Emily McLaughlin. Události se účastnila celá řada významných vědců z celého světa (např. USA, Kanada, Jižní Korea, Německo). Hlavními přednášejícími byli Janice Forsyth z University of British Columbia, členka College of the Royal Society of Canada, profesorka Susan Brownell z University of Missouri-St. Louis a nositel Řádu Kanady, Richard (Rick) Hill z First Nations Technical Institute and Mohawk College. Dne 16. 4. byl součástí konference Workshop sportů původních obyvatel Severní Ameriky (North American Indigenous Sports Workshop), který proběhl v prostoru univerzitní sportovní haly. Účastníci akce si mohli vyzkoušet řadu indiánských a inuitských sportů, pod vedením instruktorů z řad indiánů a dále hráčů LC Pardubice. Instruktorem arktických sportů byl Eric Porter z Yukonu z organizace Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle. Součástí konference byl i Workshop sportů původních obyvatel Severní Ameriky (North American Indigenous Sports Workshop), který proběhl v prostoru univerzitní sportovní haly. Účastníci akce si mohli vyzkoušet řadu indiánských a inuitských sportů, pod vedením instruktorů z řad indiánů a hráčů LC Pardubice. Instruktorem arktických sportů byl Eric Porter z Yukonu. Ve středu 17. dubna se v prostorách Divadla 29 (Sv. Anežky České 29) od 16:30 konal blok projekcí dokumentárních filmů věnovaných původním obyvatelům Severní Ameriky a slavnostní vernisáží byla zahájena fotografická výstava umělce a antropologa Ukjese van Kampena z Yukonu, Kanady s názvem – Yukon	American Indian Workshop; 45. eng	45th American Indian Workshop (AIW) - Sport, Body and Movement	On 16-19 April 2024, the 45th edition of the most important international conference dedicated to the indigenous peoples of North America held in Europe - the American Indian Workshop (AIW) - took place in Pardubice. The conference was hosted by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, University of Pardubice. This year, for the first time in the history of AIW, the theme of sport was addressed. The academic conference included a number of other activities and cultural events. The conference was opened by the Ambassador of Canada to the Czech Republic, H.E. Emily McLaughlin. The event was attended by a number of distinguished scholars from around the world (e.g., the U.S., Canada, South Korea, Germany). Keynote speakers included Janice Forsyth of the University of British Columbia, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Professor Susan Brownell of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Order of Canada recipient, Richard (Rick) Hill of the First Nations Technical Institute and Mohawk College. On April 16, the North American Indigenous Sport Workshop was held in the University of Pardubice sports hall. Participants of the event could try out a number of Native American and Inuit sports under the guidance of Native American instructors and players of LC Pardubice. The Arctic sports instructor was Eric Porter from the Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle. On Wednesday, April 17, a block of documentary film screenings dedicated to the indigenous peoples of North America was held at Theatre 29 (St. Agnes of Bohemia 29) at 4:30 p.m., and a photographic exhibition by Native artist Ukjese van Kampen of Yukon, Canada, entitled - Yukon First Peoples at Home and Play, opened with a grand vernissage. The aim of this session was to bring and expose the conference to the wider public from Pardubice residents, students or those interested in Native American cultures.
