Text popisuje nejznámější kauzy olympijských her a odpor vůči rasismu. Přestože se olympijské hry prezentují jako nepolitické, fakticky jsou vysoce formovány dominantními politickými ideologiemi, ekonomickými zájmy a jejich prosazovateli. Původní obyvatelé a jejich účast a neúčast odrážejí tyto ideologie a setkávají se s nimi nejen v roli olympioniků, ale také jako obyvatelé lokalit, které jsou pořádáním olympijských her dotčeny. Reprezentace různých kultur původních obyvatel či jejich prvků, bývá pořadateli olympijských her využívána po celém světě. eng The Indigenous Peoples and the Olympic Games – representation, performance and resistance The chapter entitled The Indigenous Peoples and the Olympic Games – representation, performance and resistance written by Lívia Šavelková offers an overview of the participation of the indigenous peoples at these global events under various historical, political, and ideological conditions. It shows how the presence of indigenous peoples at these events has varied: from human zoos performances and Wild West shows to world level athlete performances. The chapter covers the most famous Olympic cases related to the dominant racist approach towards peoples of the color in particular times and also their resistance against it. The Olympic Games, although proclaiming itself as apolitical, are heavily influenced and formed by networks of dominant political ideologies, economic powers and their exponents. The indigenous peoples have to deal with them not only in the role of the high level athletes, but also as inhabitants of places where these Games are held. Moreover, particular forms of the indigenous cultures have been used by Olympic organizers to promote these sport mega-events worldwide.
