eng Selected Questions of Understanding Mysticism in Western View In my contribution, at first, I will deal with chosen aspects of western study of mysticism. At first I will speak about and solve the question of the origin of the term mysticism itself, like a phenomenon that served to preservation of a detail of ritual and itself following transformation when it was „adopted“ by Christianity to describe the hidden importance of The Bible and Jesus Christ and when Greek fathers, whose commented to that transformation, because they found out parts which they regarded as mystical (in the figurative sense). At the end of this part I stress, why is mysticism „something more“, then how has been seen in pre-Christian Greece and then in the Christian milieu. On this topic will be follow second part of panel, in which I will deal with often discussed question, whether is the mysticism universal phenomenon, or it is phenomenon, that is inherent in every religious culture. I will introduce a third possible view or middle way among theese ideologicals streams. This third stream or middle way says, that even when there is a difference between „mystics“ the essence is common. To everyone of these three ideological streams will be assined citations and arguments of chosen western researchers of 20th and 21st century, which that concrete stream defend and presents or on the oposite side disprove and critisize.
