eng	Artistically inclined characters in Hofmannsthal?s Works and Their Relationship to Existence	The article analyzes two early works by Hugo von Hofmannsthal: The Little Theatre of the World and The Tale of the 672nd Night. The main attention is paid to artistically inclined characters: the poet, the artist (in The Little Theatre of the World) and the "dilettante" (in The Tale of the 672nd Night). Using the example of the analyzed characters, the article tries to define the character traits typical for the artist and for the dilettante as well. It also clarifies the terms "pre-existence" and "existence" and explains their meaning for Hofmannsthal's work. The depiction of the artistically inclined characters is made in the background of the terms mentioned above.
