cze Úžasná 80. léta v Prvotřídních ženách od Caryl Churchill Prezentace se zaměřila na politická témata, která se objevují ve hře Prvotřídní ženy (1982) od současné britské dramatičky Caryl Churchill. Především byl diskutován paradox spojený s britskou ministryní Margaret Thatcher, jejíž vítězství u mnohých žen evokovalo naději ve skvělé časy. eng The Stupendous 1980s in Caryl Churchill´s Top Girls More than thirty years have passed since Margaret Thatcher was elected the first woman Prime Minister; however, the perception of Thatcherism and of the changes brought still differs very much. The presentation focused on the way in which the political issues are articulated in the play Top Girls by Caryl Churchill, a contemporary British playwright. The play Top Girls (1982) was written after the most critical years 1980 and 1981 when the very high number of the unemployed and their growing poverty could be considered to be one of many reasons why the popularity of the Conservative Party decreased rapidly. The play Top Girls captures the paradox connected with the first woman Prime Minister whose victory led to the belief that "the eighties are going to be stupendous" (Churchill 1991, 83) for women. Nevertheless, the very beginning of Thatcher´s years proved that the 1980s would be the period of many opportunities only for some women, only for ´the top girls.´ Caryl Churchill, Top Girls, the 1980s in Great Britain, Margaret Thatcher
