The Study of Pedagogy for Teachers at Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary Level (formerly CPS: Complementary Pedagogical Studies) provides graduates with the eligibility to teach at lower and upper secondary schools.

The programme is accredited pursuant to Section 22 (1) a) of Act No. 563/2004 Sb., on Teaching Staff and on Amendments to Certain Acts, as amended, and Section 1 (1) a) of Decree No. 317/2005 Sb., on Further Education of Teaching Staff, the Accreditation Commission and the Career System for Teaching Staff, as amended (see the decision of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of 19 March 2024).

The supervisor of the study programme is prof. PhDr. Karel Rýdl, CSc.

Graduates

Graduates receive a university certificate entitling them to teach at lower and upper secondary levels. This certificate is only valid in conjunction with a “Mgr.” or “Ing.” degree in the field of study.

This certificate entitles graduates to teach at lower secondary schools and to teach social sciences (basics of social sciences, history), natural sciences (physics, chemistry, geography, natural history, mathematics, civic education), Czech language and foreign languages (English) at secondary schools.

Admission requirements

Graduates of universities and students of universities with at least a bachelor’s degree who are continuing their studies in a follow-up or specialisation form of a master’s programme are admitted.

Students with a professional qualification from their “Mgr.” or “Ing.” studies, who have already graduated or are still studying, are admitted according to the subject didactic offer approved in the accreditation by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. These include social sciences, natural sciences, Czech language and foreign language didactics. The applicant must enclose with the application a copy of the diploma and a certificate of passing the state examination with a list of the subjects examined (no notarisation required) or a certificate of ongoing “Mgr.” or “Ing.” studies issued by the study department of the relevant university faculty.

The admission procedure takes into account the applicant’s pedagogical practice. Admission interviews are not held; the final decision on admission is the responsibility of the supervisor.

The completed and signed application form, together with a copy of the diploma and the certificate, must be sent to the address below by 15 June.
