The programme is aimed at teachers who can obtain the qualification of foreign language teacher by passing a language test in the respective foreign language at least at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (hereinafter referred to as the “CEFR for Languages”) and by completing complementary didactic studies of the respective language. The programme is therefore aimed at participants who have a Master’s degree in Pedagogical Sciences or another Master’s degree supplemented by teacher training education, i.e. a Bachelor’s degree or a lifelong learning programme at the university level. In addition, the applicant should be able to demonstrate knowledge of a foreign language at the level of at least C1 CEFR for Languages.

Aim of the studies:
The graduate will acquire knowledge and skills in the area of subject didactics of English. The programme focuses on the issue of achieving educational goals in all four language skills of pupils, i.e. in understanding written language (reading) and oral language (listening) and in the independent production of written and oral language, with a distinction for different age groups of pupils in primary schools, lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools and language schools authorised to conduct the State Language Examination. Participants of the program will also learn the basics of English classroom management and the latest trends in English language teaching.

Form and organisation of study: The course is designed as a full-time course and takes place during one semester at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of UPCE. Classes are held in English and Czech. The study includes 60 hours of teaching and covers topics according to the Standard of the complementary didactic studies of the respective foreign language (no. MSMT-42452/2013).
Completion of the course: Completion of the specified requirements of the programme, including passing the final examination in the form of a presentation and defence of a professional mini-portfolio. At the end of the course, the graduate will receive a certificate of completion of the Lifelong Learning Programme: Complementary Didactic Studies of English.
