Institute of Historical Sciences was established in 2001. It is one of eight parts of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of the University of Pardubice.
The institute provides opportunity to study in undergraduate, master and doctoral level of education in the field of Czech history. As a centre of research in humanities the Institute of Historical Sciences is focused on the following areas:
1) Medieval history (doc. Martin Čapský, dr. Kateřina Ptáčková, dr. František Šebek)
2) Early modern history (prof. Petr Vorel, doc. Jiří Kubeš, doc. Pavel Marek, doc. Pavel Panoch, dr. Vítězslav Prchal, dr. František Šebek)
3) History of the "long" 19th century (prof. Milena Lenderová, doc. Marie Macková, dr. Zuzana Pavelková Čevelová, dr. Zbyněk Vydra, dr. Vladan Hanulík, dr. Šárka Nekvapil Jirásková, dr. Martina Halířová, dr. Jana Stráníková)
4) Modern history of Czechoslovakia and Russia (doc. Tomáš Jiránek, dr. Zbyněk Vydra, dr. Dita Homolová)
