Yumeto Ogura (Japan)

What were your first impressions upon arrival?

My first impression was how different everything was from Japan. The buildings, streets, and atmosphere were completely new to me. The city has old buildings and architecture, and the atmosphere is relaxed, calm, and peaceful. For me, the whole area felt like a scene from a movie, especially around the main square and the castle. I enjoyed just walking around and taking in the views. People were also friendly and seemed to enjoy a slower, more relaxed.

How would you rate the quality of teaching and support from the faculty?

I would rate the quality of teaching and support from the faculty very highly. The professors were very kind, and the classes were flexible. They explained everything clearly and were always ready to answer questions, both during and after class. Outside of class, they were very supportive—not only with academic matters, but also with things like dormitory support and even visa applications. I really appreciated their support in both academic and everyday situations.

What surprised or pleased you the most during your stay?

I was especially happy to see how warm and welcoming the people were. I was surprised by how easy it was to talk to strangers compared to my country, and how they interacted with others felt very different. Their friendly attitude made me feel comfortable and accepted. It really helped me enjoy my stay and feel more connected to the local culture

What activities or places would you recommend to future Erasmus students?

I really recommend just walking around the city. The streets are quiet, beautiful, and full of charm, and it’s a great way to relax and discover new places like cafés. I often enjoyed walking with no set destination; there was always something interesting to see.
I also had the chance to visit Prague, which was a wonderful experience. The architecture was amazing, and I loved the atmosphere of the city.
