On the occasion of the Day of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy and the International Students’ Day, the Rector of the University of Pardubice, prof. Libor Čapek, awarded prizes for outstanding achievements. He honoured four members of UPCE during the academic ceremony on Thursday, 14 November.

“It is a special and festive moment for me to choose from among the personalities of our University those who deserve the award. Not only because the University of Pardubice is an institution of various scientific directions or expertise. But above all because we are surrounded by excellent experts and talents. I am very happy and grateful for this,“ said the Rector of the University of Pardubice prof. Libor Čapek.

This year’s awards, which are traditionally presented in the week before 17 November, went to staff from two of the University’s faculties, the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy and the Faculty of Chemical Technology.

The Rector’s Award for the popularisation of science was awarded to prof. Filip Bureš from the Faculty of Chemical Technology for his long-term conceptual support of young talents within the scope of Secondary school professional activities. The Rector’s Award for the promotion of the University was presented to Mgr. Michal Němeček from the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy for organising informal debates with prominent personalities at the University of Pardubice. Michal Němeček, a doctoral student of Historical Sciences, has started a series of public discussions with experts, popular athletes, artists, politicians and journalists on topical issues as part of the Rozjeď to! (Get it going!) project, jointly supported by the University of Pardubice and the City of Pardubice.

The Rector’s Award for popularisation was awarded to Ivo Říha, Doctor of Philosophy from the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, for his long-term conceptual popularisation of literary culture for the general public.
