On the occasion of the Day of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy and the International Students’ Day, the Rector of the University of Pardubice, prof. Libor Čapek, honoured personalities for their extraordinary achievements. During the traditional academic ceremony, he presented awards to a dozen students and staff.
“The University of Pardubice is a community of people with many talents, abilities and interests. I am glad to be able to draw attention to at least some of them on this occasion. I appreciate it, and I thank everyone for what they do for our University,” said prof. Libor Čapek, Rector of the University of Pardubice
The Rector’s Student Award for spreading the good name of the University in the field of sport was awarded by the Rector of the University of Pardubice to a group of students and academics for winning the Czech University Basketball League. The award was accepted by UPCE team captain Ondřej Výcha, coach Mgr. Dušan Pandula and student Matěj Burda, who was also a member of the Czech National Basketball Team that won this year’s Summer World University Games.
The Rector’s Student Award for successful representation of the University of Pardubice in an international competition was awarded to Ema Dvořáková from the Faculty of Health Studies, who participated in the global final of the prestigious Map the System competition as part of the University of Oxford Excellence Award. She succeeded with the project Trauma and Childbirth in the Czech Republic, which she worked on with students from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science at Charles University.
The Rector’s Award for publication in a journal with a high impact factor was awarded this year to two academics from the Faculty of Chemical Technology. The publication “Direct dehydrogenation of propane over Pd nanoparticles encapsulated within IPC zeolites with tunable pore sizes” has been published in the prestigious journal Applied Materials Today. Student of the doctoral study programme MSc. Mehran Sajad, M.Sc., is the first author of the publication and prof. Ing. Roman Bulánek, Ph.D., is the corresponding author.
The award for a prestigious monograph and for a contribution to the development of the discipline of history was awarded to doc. Mgr. Pavel Marek, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Institute of Historical Sciences, for the prestigious monograph Gesandte und Klienten. Päpstliche und spanische Diplomaten im Umfeld von Kaiser Rudolf II and for the long-term conceptual development of the discipline of history.
Prof. Čapek also presented the Rector’s Award for contribution to the development of the University for the long-term conceptual development of the Educational and Research Centre in Transport in the field of educational activities and applied research. It was awarded to doc. Ing. Bohumil Culek, Ph.D. from the Jan Perner Faculty of Transport Engineering.
For his contribution to the development of the University, the Rector’s Prize was awarded to prof. Ing. Miroslav Vlček, CSc. from the Faculty of Chemical Technology, who has been the head of the Centre of Materials and Nanotechnologies for many years. The Rector recognised its conceptual development in the field of basic and applied research, which led to its inclusion in the Roadmap of Large Research Infrastructures.
The Rector’s Award for contribution to the development of internationalisation of the University went to Mgr. Markéta Denksteinová from the Language Centre of the University of Pardubice for her long-term promotion of student mobility.
