Výsledky analýzy ukazují, že čeští studenti angličtiny (úroveň B2 dle CEFR) preferují přímé dotazování, ale ve struktuře jejich otázek se objevují poměrně četné chyby. eng Directness level of request strategies in spoken learner discourse The chapter is concerned with directive speech acts produced by undergraduate learners of English, particularly with requests for information excerpted from dialogues recorded in the Corpus of Czech Students’ Spoken English. It investigates the directness level of requests for information, focusing on the use and distribution of different strategies in informal interaction. The findings indicate that Czech B2 speakers of English rely on direct strategies, but seem to struggle with the form of interrogatives, the prevalent and most natural means to ask for information. Additionally, a lack of variety in conventionally indirect requests and overuse of familiar conventionalised structures have been observed. request for information; directness level; spoken learner corpus; informal interaction
