eng	Public Space as a Site of Belonging and Exclusion: Insights into Roma and Non-Roma Experiences of Public Places	This paper explores how public places are differently experienced, used, and understood by Roma and non-Roma communities in a neighborhood of one Moravian town in the Czech Republic. It presents the contested meanings and uses of public space in a particular housing estate. At the heart of the residential area lies a central playground—once a vibrant communal space, no• in a state of gradual decline. Drawing on mixed-method research, including surveys and in-depth interviews, this study examines how ethnically and socially diverse residents, particularly non-Roma and Roma, navigate and negotiate the use and future of this space. Although there is a shared desire for revitalization, differences emerge regarding the envisioned function of the area and whom it should serve. These conflicting expectations are rooted in broader dynamics of social exclusion, belonging, and interethnic tension. By analyzing how spatial practices are shaped, this paper sheds light on how a public space becomes a site of both community building and boundary-makingin post-socialist urban settings.
