eng The saint from the Gothic bridge as a subject of Czech historiography and humanities in the period from the 18th to the 20th century. An interdisciplinary bibliographic sketch From an interdisciplinary perspective, this chapter summarizes sources and bibliography related to the veneration and artistic expressions of the cult of St. John of Nepomuk from the Baroque period to the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. It covers basic trends in research and their development, from late Baroque attempts at critical historiography through positivism to research that considers artistic expressions of religious veneration as historical evidence and is inspired by new approaches combining the methodologies of anthropology, comparative literature, the history of mentalities, and representation research.
