eng	Emanuel Salomon of Friedberg and his memories on military service and life in fortresses	The chapter deals with the memoirs of the Austrian army officer Salomon von Friedberg, in which he recalls two periods of his military service in fortresses - first as a young officer after graduating from the military academy in Terezín, and later as the commander of the fortress in Osijek. The core of the study is a comparison of the duties of a “fresh“ lieutenant ‒ a novice, and an experienced colonel with the responsibility for an entire fortress.
