eng	Heidegger, Nazism and the Phenomenon of Interpretation	The relationship of the eminent German philosopher Martin Heidegger to Nazism is a topic that has stirred strong emotions and stimulated lively debate for decades. The intention of the present text is to use the case at hand as an illustrative example to present Heidegger’s conception of interpretation as known from his seminal work, Being and Time. The connection between Heidegger’s entanglement with Nazism and the phenomenon of interpretation is not chosen at random, because any attempt to grasp this thinker or his work is ultimately an interpretation, and for this reason it cannot dispense with the fundamental moments of fore-having, fore-sight and fore-conception that make up its structure.
