eng	Golden scudo by Pier Luigi Farnese (+1547) from the Castro Mint in the context of European history of the 40s of the 16th century	The author draws attention to a hitherto unknown specimen of a rare Italian Renaissance coin: a gold scudo minted at the Castro mint in 1545-1546 in the name of Piero Luigi Farnese, illegitimate son of the then Pope Paul III. The author explains the economic, political and social context that accompanied the creation of the Duchy of Castro in the context of the family property policy of Pope Paul III and his biological descendants.
