eng	Kurdish tribes, tribal leaders and global processes: The case of Oramari in Hakkari.	This chapter looks at the Kurdish tribe of Oramari in popular and public discourses and notes how Orientalist approaches have impacted our understanding of the tribal structures. It focuses on the tribe particularly from the perspective of tribal leadership and examines three generations of tribal leaders, how their rule and relations with the tribe have been shaped by political developments as well as personal and demographic factors. The analysis points out to the flexibility of leadership types which then allows us to reflect freshly on the continuity and discontinuity of tribal structures.
