eng Interfacial Landscapes in Contemporary British Crime Fiction The traditional understanding of wilderness has been much contested, and numerous attempts exist to redefine this concept. Various ecocritical approaches enable the exploration of places once exploited by humans but now reclaimed by nature. Such interfacial landscapes have specific atmospheres and function as ideal settings, e.g., of contemporary crime. Thus, the investigation process is often reflected in the local mystery of the abandoned landscape as well as in the attempts to rediscover local or personal history. These aspects shall be explored in this paper referring to works of British contemporary crime fiction. wilderness; British crime fiction; interfacial landscape
