eng	The Boko Haram Insurgency in Nigeria and the search for a lasting solution	The paper deals with the Boko Haram issue in Nigeria and possible permanent solutions to the nightmare of insurgency. The analysis is focused on the origin of the Boko Haram menace, how it became an International terrorist group and what needs to be done in other to make the group go extinct. The paper adopts an historical approach in its qualitative and quantitative analysis. At the beginning, it focuses on the origin of the terrorist group and how it transformed into an international terrorist group after its primary aim of establishment was defeated. The paper also focuses on the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents. Also, it focuses on the havoc and terror that the insurgents unleashed on the people of, especially, the North-Eastern part of Nigeria and the massive destruction of lives and property. It also explains how the Boko Haram filtered into neighbouring countries such as Cameroun, Niger and Chad. The paper also captures the activities of the European Union (EU) in the Boko Haram menace and how it made attempts in finding lasting solutions to the issue. The paper relies heavily on primary and secondary sources of information. The problem of sources and references is intense because the Boko Haram issue is highly sensitive and political in nature and most resource materials are concealed by government officials and politicians. Gathering written sources was a great challenge but was complimented with oral sources. Telephone calls was used as a means to reach out to relevant people. Relevant written sources that were consulted were cross examined. The conclusion is based on the likely solutions to the Boko Haram menace in Nigeria. Certain policies needs to be adopted while certain people need to be consulted for professional advice for the Boko Haram issue to be finally laid to rest but the Military Industrial Complex is also an obstacle if not also addressed too.
