Life in institutions for mentally ill children wasn´t easy in any time period, everybody can imagine that. This article introduces two institutes specialised for children in Bohemia at that time of the first half of twenty century. Children which were here for long years, occasionally even until they died, were often sent to this institution, because their families didn´t want or couldn´t take care about them. Article acquaints readers with fact, that young patients which were inside the walls of institutes, they weren't suffering just from mental illnesses, but also by various diseases that was frequent there. Doctors of institutes weren´t able to heal children´s soul and mind, but just their bodies, and not in every case. Furthermore, professional medical staff even hadn´t the obligation to improve mental state of patients. Unfortunately, not just in the hard times of institutions children very often died. Is interesting actuality containing from sources, that children´s bodies stayed in centre of interest of the medical community, even though they weren´t able to heal them anymore actually. Medicine facultates in Universities wanted every body which wasn´t taken by parents for the funeral. Because bodies of patients of institutes for mentally ill children were very requested for an autopsy. Obviously, patients had to stay patients for ever. child; pacient; institution; death; diseases
