eng Time and Creation in the Timaeus In this paper, I will deal first with exposition of time in Plato’s Timaeus. I will show that at least some of his statements are very general and imply that there is no time outside our world. In the second and third parts, I will deal with the bearing this conception of time has on the nature of motion and on the way our world imitates the paradigm. I will show that, with regard to both these topics, Timaeus is implicitly working also with a different conception of time. In order to understand Timaeus’ analysis of our world, time cannot be limited to the circular motion of the heavenly bodies. Plato; Cosmogony; Time
