eng Authority and Rationality The talk examined the role of language and thought in the context of authority, i.e. the obligation to obey, in the context of the family and society. The discussion sought to undermine the reliance on Winch’s Wittgensteinean account of obedience in terms of primitive reactions and ‘habits of obedience’. The talk forms the continuation of the piece on Peter Winch (the 1st part was on Practical Necessity), which is to be completed by the discussion of the role of Reason in the context of political obedience.
