V první části autor upozorňuje na různé definice šlechty v kontextu stavovského uspořádání ruské společnosti a zejména řeší vhodnost používání termínu aristokracie v Rusku. Druhá část studie představuje přehled dosavadní historiografie o šlechtě, především na poli kulturní historie. Zde jsou ukázány hlavní výzkumné směry a trendy a také představen problém dlouho převažující orientace historiků na období 18. století a první poloviny 19. století. Třetí část je kritickým přehledem pramenů ke kulturním dějinám šlechty, a sice především pramenů osobní povahy. V závěrečné čtvrté části se autor zabývá možnostmi dalšího výzkumu. eng	The cultural history of the nobility in the Late Imperial Russia – a forgotten topic of historiography?	The study deals with the topic of the cultural history of the nobility in Late Imperial Russia (1861–1917). In the first part, the author draws attention to the different definitions of nobility in the context of the estates’ organization of Russian society and in particular addresses the suitability of the term aristocracy in Russia. The second part of the study presents an overview of existing historiography on the nobility, especially in the field of cultural history. The main research directions and trends are shown here and the problem of the long-dominating orientation of the historians on the period of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century are also presented. The third part is a critical overview of the sources of the cultural history of the nobility, and especially the sources of a personal nature.
