The making of rational approaches to consumerism and nutrition on the background of modern medicine development and creation of 19th century unconventional therapeutic systems Chapter reflects the beginnings of interests in the rational and healthy aspects of nutrition, connected with creation and development of unconventional approaches to health care in Czech lands in the 19th and 20th century. Based on the analysis of historical sources, it is clear that the birth of today's focus on the medical aspects of consumerism was associated with a socially constructed category of "natural" way of life, which was a common denominator in the development of nonconventional therapeutical systems of the early 19th century and the so called Lebensreformbewegung, major social unconventional movement of the last third of the 19th century in German speaking countries.
