eng	Shaping Text Meaning: Hedging in BA Papers	This presentation is concerned with the use of hedging devices in bachelor papers written by Czech students of English since hedging devices, expressing doubt and tentativeness, are considered to be vital for written academic discourse where they represent essential means by which authors shape the overall text meaning. The presentation focuses on the incidence of modal verbs employed as hedges in selected bachelor papers, particularly in their discussion sections presenting research findings and interpreting collected data.
