eng Learning English Pronunciation for Global Communication Pronunciation goals in learning ESL/EFL have been recently discussed in the context of what are some of core elements that must be acquired. Prospective teachers of English are expected to achieve highly intelligible pronunciation as they will provide a model for their learners. This is even more important in central European countries such as the Czech Republic where English is taught as a foreign language, and the teacher represents the main source of input. Although the Czech EFL learners at the college level prefer to sound like a native speaker, their pronunciation is often not sufficiently intelligible. In this presentation, I will describe a project designed to improve student teachers´ English pronunciation. I will present samples of audio recordings, illustrating learner speech at the beginning of the project and show, with the help of a second set of recordings, the results of our complex intervention plan to improve pronunciation. learning English, pronunciation, action research
