eng Creativity of Authors of Detective Novels This article deals with the role of creativity of the authors of detective novels from the point of view of the main character´s typology ? character of the investigator. Detective novels arose in France in the middle of the 19th century and follow up the tradition of ?black novels? and ?romans-feuilleton?. The pioneer of this genre was Emile Gaboriau who created the figure of Monsieur Lecoq. Since that the popularity of the detective novels has increased and other authors tried to excel.
