Hello, I am Yağmur Göksel from Turkey. I have studied English Language and Literature during my Bachelor's Degree. Right after my graduation, I have started my Erasmus Traineeship Program at Pardubice University which lasted for 2 months. My goal is to become a successful academic in my field, and I would like to express my special thanks to Pardubice University for this excellent opportunity that allowed me to have such beneficial experience in the this regard.
What was the main reason you decided to study in the Czech Republic?
Years ago I have visited Czech Republic and fell in love with its culture. It was on my mind to come back and to actually stay for a longer period of time to experience the culture deeply. This was the main reason.
Have you experienced any culture shock from moving here?
Interestingly I have not experienced any culture shock at all. My lifestyle, mindset and perspective towards life all are perfectly parallel with the Czech culture, thus it was an ideal place to study. I believe not many students would experience strong culture shock, Czech Republic is a great country which offers freedom in any topic and appreciates every culture.
What was your first impression of the Czech Republic and what it is now?
As I've mentioned, when I visited Czech Republic for the first time I was quite impressed with its culture, people, architecture and history. This time, having a proper chance to observe all these factors closely, I think I am fascinated even more, I've had a chance to experience various things that have helped me to improve my knowledge, intellectual side and social life.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Pardubice to other students?
I definitely recommend everyone to visit Pardubice and study at Pardubice University to the students. The city has a beautiful nature, interesting places to visit, friendly people to socialize with and the university offers high quality education. When you combine all these factors, Pardubice seems to be one of the best locations with numerous opportunities.
Do you have a piece of advice for anyone who is considering studying in the Czech Republic?
First of all I'd like to state that how easily a person can get used to and fit in the daily life here is surprising and such a relief. When students consider moving abroad to study, one of the stressful questions for them regards whether they'd face any hardships to blend in. Yet I need to highlight the fact that in Czech Republic freedom is the key point and every culture is welcomed. In my opinion, it is easier here to be a part of the society compared to any other country. Therefore the biggest advice I can offer is this; to let them know that things work quite nicely and easy here for a foreigner and I'm sure they would be mesmerized by the spirit of the country.
