Od 19. století to byl právě stát, který stanovoval hranice angažovanosti církví vespolečnosti. Kromě toho se předpokládalo, že církve svou historickou roli již skončily. Na jedné straně se zdůrazňoval život církví ve svobodné společnosti, ale také jejich soukromý ráz. Ale až komunistický režim vy výchoevropských zemích využil dominantního postavení státu a začal vytlačovat církve a náboženství vůbec vůbec nejen z veřejného, ale i ze soukromého života. Text se zaměřuje na analýzu situace v bývalém komunistickém Českoslovenku.
eng Religion under Political Power: Church Holidays during the Communist Regime in Czechoslovakia. In the 20th century, the importance of religion was theoretically acknowledged, but in reality the churches were discarded from participation in public life. It was believed that they had already finished their historical role. Churches were actually kept within limits that made them ?harmless? in the sphere of public life. Religion was supposed to be free, but, at the same time, a strictly private, not a public affair. In the long?lasting battle between the state and church, the state was considered victorious. The relationship between Church, or religion, and politics can be considered a matter of institutions, however, it impacts an individual?s faith as well. Speaking of the Church and state, we usually imply the relationship between Christianity and political power throughout history. This paper is concerning on problem of relationschip between churces and state ispecially in communist regime in Czechoslovakia. Political Science of religion
