eng Stereotypes about islam in the Czech textbooks The paper deals with the problem of the extent to which selected school books fulfil the requirements of the Czech curricula for establishing positive relationships to other cultures, namely to Islam. The analysis indicates that despite the curricula requirements defining tolerance and dialogue as one of the most important goals of education, Czech school books present Islam and its culture solely in negative terms. The presentation of Islam is based on the most common stereotypes such as oppression of women rights, backwardness or inability to follow the process of secularization.
