Konkrétní projevy vrchnostenských zásahů byly zkoumány především na základě analýzy zápisů o majetkových transakcích chalupníků a sedláků, které byly včleněny do pozemkových knih. Tato analýza ukázala, že u většiny majetkových transakcí zastávala vrchnost spíše dohlížecí funkci a neměla potřebu zasahovat do majetkových záležitostí poddaných. Kromě situací, kdy se zásahu vrchnosti při sporech o majetek dožadovali přímo poddaní, prosazovala vrchnost svoji mocenskou sílu za dvou základních okolností: pokud byly ohroženy její majetkové zájmy a pokud cítila, že je zapotřebí, aby demonstrovala svoji mocenskou autoritu. Avšak tyto zásahy není možné vykládat jako doklad tzv. utužení nevolnictví. Bližší pohled na okolnosti, které vyvolaly vrchnostenský zákrok, jasně ukazují, že nešlo o žádné svévolné zásahy do dispozičních práv poddaných. Je pravda, že vrchnost neváhala využít svoji moc, pokud se domnívala, že jí to přinese ekonomický prospěch nebo upevnění její autority. eng	The role of the manor in property transfers of serf holdings in Bohemia in the period of the 'second serfdom'	The aim of the study is to show how the manor exercised its authority over serfs in property transactions in the period of the so-called 'second serfdom'. The research was undertaken on the estate Šťáhlavy in western Bohemia, which between the seventeenth and the nineteenth centuries was owned by a nobel overlord. Specific examples of the lord's intervention were studied on the basis of records of property transformations, carried out by smallholders and full peasant holders, incorporated in the land registers. The analysis of these records has shown that in most cases the lord merely supervised the transactions, without any need to intervene in the property matters of his subjects. Besides those situation when the serfs themselves called for the lord to intervene, he asserted his power mainly in two circumstances: first, when his own economic interests as overlord were at risk and second, if he felt that it was necessary to demonstrate his authority. However, these interventions cannost be interpreted as evidence of imposing ever tougher restrictions on the serf¨s condition, stemming from a presumed effort to tighten up sefdom. A detailed examination of the actual circumstances which provoked manorial interventions clearly reveals that it was by no means an arbitrary or unmotivated interference in the disposal rights of the serfs, driven solely by the lord's ambition or by an effort to assert his rights. It is true that the landlord did not hesitate to use his power if he believed that it would bring him economic enefit and strengthen his authority; this does not exlude, however, that the lord and his subjects would not be able to share a common interests, i.e. maintaining prosperous serf farms.	manor; second serfdom; Bohemia; property transfers; serfs
