eng The development of care for orphans in Bohemia and the District orphanage in Pardubice until 1914 The article is devoted to social care for orphans, it is mentioned the form of care in medieval and early modern period and legislation of 19th century. The main focus of work is 19 century, the issue of orphan care is monitored until 1914. The article addresses the form of care for the poor orphans and the emergence of a new type of institutions - orphanages. The example of the establishment of an orphanage in Pardubice district is trying to show what could lead to the establishment of the institution and how care of orphans looked like, and who could be admitted to the institute.
