eng	Defence of Tradition or Modernity: Two Opposite Sides of the Czech Philosophy of Religion	The problem of the relationship between religion and science and the quest for new religion belonged among the “hot” issues of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. On one side, Catholic theologians and philosophers defended the traditional concept of science and education that are in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church, traditional concept of religiosity and traditional hierarchical social order. On the other hand, liberal (often free-thinking) philosophers refused any form of traditionalism, did not look into the past but into the future, and searched for new forms of thinking, knowledge and science.
