eng	Autobiography and the genre of Bildungsroman	Most literary historians agree that the tradition of the genre of Bildungsroman starts at the end of the eighteenth century and reflects an important paradigmatic shift both in the understanding of the importance of childhood and youth for the formation of an individual and in the understanding of time changes and history. Novels studied critically as examples of the Bildungsroman genre are frequently marketed as autobiographies or semi-autobiographies. The presentation discussed how the distinction between the two genres as well as the possible blurring of it applies to my own novel Smaragdové město (Emerald City, 2006).
