eng	Direct and indirect forms of presentation in the discourse of newspaper reports.	The paper presents the results of a small-scale research studying the coherence of British broadsheet newspaper discourse. Focus will be placed on the employment of direct and indirect forms of presentation in news reports, using the method of Rhetorical Structure Theory. The aim of the paper is twofold. First, the paper describes the main types of reported language and comments on their frequency of occurrence. Second, the paper tries to ascertain coherence and functional relations between direct and indirect speech and the rest of the report.	reported language, coherence, RST, newspaper reports
