eng Childhood in Postmodern Times The paper focused on the literary depictions of childhood in postmodern situation. Using Nathan Glazer?s theory of multiculturalism and its key elements and Steven Mintz?s definition of the concept of postmodern childhood, I analyzed two novels ? Meera Syal?s Anita and Me (1996) and Zadie Smith?s White Teeth (2000) to see how the figure of a child is seen in them. I addressed issues such as child?s identity in multicultural situation, dual (or possibly multiple) heritage and its impact on the process of growing up, recombinant lifestyles and revisions of history. childhood;growing-up;postmodernism;multiculturalism
