eng Teaching and Learning Grammar Through Halliday's Functional Approach The presentation is based on the course that is being prepared as a part of the linguistic module aimed at future English teachers. Apart from introducing a very influential linguistic school, the course might help students consolidate and extend their knowledge gained in syntax and morphology. Since Halliday?s description of the clause in context is based on the three functions it simultaneously performs, this approach might help students realize what is actually done or expressed when a clause is uttered and what part(s) of the clause contribute(s) to expressing a particular meaning.
