Description:
The project aims to extend the range of teaching methods in selected cultural-historical and philological courses in form of a thematic study trip, visiting lesser-known, but significant, phenomena of the verbal and material culture in Southeast Europe which cover various relations between the centres and the periphery of European cultural development. Six places were selected in Serbia and Croatia, representing interesting architectural settings with a number of analogies to the historical memory of Central Europe: Subotica (example of the South-Hungarian Art Nouveau), Novi Sad (baroque city concept, interwar architecture), Petrovaradin Fortress (Multiculturalism of the Military Frontier), Fruška Gora (Orthodox monasteries), Vukovar (symbol of the disintegration of Yugoslavia) and Osijek (example of the Croatian Baroque). This study trip will be based on students? presentations, prepared prior to the trips, focusing on the relevant aspects of the particular places.
